DIY Plastic Surgery in Your Cosmetics Bag

By Kelsey Roadruck on May 12, 2013

Flipping through pages of Vogue in animosity and regretfully watching the Victoria Secret Fashion Show with a carton of Ben & Jerry’s, the media shows perfection and in turn that’s what we strive for. The fact of the matter is, not many of us are willing nor able to undergo plastic surgery. However, there are a few secrets hiding in your cosmetics bag that could put photoshop out of business. Applying make-up is like painting a canvas. It’s all about the illusion! Because DIY plastic surgery can sound confusing (and maybe a little intimidating), we’ve included links that will direct you to YouTube’s cosmetic star Kandee Johnson for a visual aid!

Nose Job 101.
It’s hard to believe, but even the glamorous Marilyn Monroe had an issue with her nose. She used to follow the following steps to create a slimmer, longer looking nose.  With a small eyeshadow brush draw a straight line on both sides of your nose with bronzer. This will create an illusion that your nose is just a hair  slimmer than it really is. It also helps if you also apply bronzer under the tip (not on top!) of your nose. You’ll ultimately be making a v-shape under your nose. At first, these lines will look dramatic. It is very, very important that you blend the bronzer in, in order for them to look as natural as possible. Click here for video!

Double Chin Elimination Without Liposuction. Whether you’re a double zero or not, most of us are victims of the double chin. It doesn’t mean you have a chubby face or that you need to go run five more miles. Double chins just happen, unfortunately. To help hide this, apply bronzer under your chin in a triangular shape and blend down the sides of your neck. This will create the illusion of a shadow and reduce a double to a single! You might also want to apply some bronzer to your jawline in order to blend your makeup more thoroughly. Click here for video!

Better Botox.
For those lucious lips that every girl wants, try this! Using lip liner, line your lips just where your lip begins to meet the rest of your face. You may feel like you’re coloring outside of the lines but trust me, this is the most crucial part! After you have a slightly over-accentuated outline, fill the creases with your liner being careful to leave most of the middle of your lip liner-less. This will create a highlighted effect that will enhance the plumpness that your lips maybe lacking. Fill in your bare spots with a slightly lighter shade of lipstick. This will again enhance the highlight. Top your look of with some gloss and pucker up! Click here for video!

Cheekbones Reconstructed. We’re not all lucky enough to have perfectly chiseled Reese Witherspoon or Cameron Diaz cheekbones. But we all have access to a local drugstore! With a highlighting shade of blush or shadow, use your finger and tap some highlight on the tops of your cheeks. You can also use a very light eyeshadow above the blush as well to create even more of a glow. Be careful to not go overboard! This is a very subtle highlight that will make a dramatic impact! Click here for video!
